Tour the Thyssen Museum from home!

This post is also available in: Español (Spanish)

Yes, we have to stay home, which means we can’t enjoy leisure and culture like we usually do: going to exhibitions, concerts, the theatre… However, as a result of the lockdown we’re experiencing, many cultural centres are developing different initiatives so that staying home doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy what they have on offer. Today, we’re focusing on one of these places, which we suggest you tour and dive into through your screen. How about a virtual trip to the Thyssen Museum?

On the museum’s website, you can find the different activities they’re offering under the hashtag #ThyssenDesdeCasa (‘Thyssen from home’). So, we suggest, for example, trying their immersive virtual tours, both of the permanent collection as well as various temporary exhibitions. You’ll go on an amazing visit where you can jump from room to room and discover the different displays in this Madrilenian museum, all with an impressively real feel.

The Thyssen Museum also offers different courses and activities on the website educathyssen.org for learning during the lockdown. You’ll be able to get training in artistic techniques or learn everything about engraving, for example. They also have different activities for children, young people and adults available to all website users, as well as their labs and different educational resources.

Even though we’re not going to be able to visit any museums and see artworks up close and marvel at their brushstrokes for a few more weeks, offers such as these from the Thyssen Museum are great alternatives that we can all take advantage of.

Arzuaga and the Thyssen Museum

As we already told you in this blog post, a few months ago Arzuaga developed a connection between our wines and the Thyssen Museum. Thus, under the Vinoselección initiative, our Arzuaga Reserva 2014 was one of the wines that were included in the #elvinoesarte project.

As part of this, we presented a special edition of this wine where the labels depicted Juan Gris’ work The Smoker, which is displayed at the Thyssen Museum. ‘Relating a wine to a picture is nothing new, but doing it with six wines from different wineries, all great wineries, and with the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum… This is something new in Spain and an extraordinary idea,’ remarked Ignacio Arzuaga.

During these days, we invite you to take advantage of all the options on offer from different cultural centres and, in particular, the offering from the Thyssen Museum. More than fascinating!
