Arzuaga Crianza 2017: ‘A wine that never disappoints’

This post is also available in: Español (Spanish)

As you know, at Arzuaga we’re sharing a series of video tastings on our social media, with two main aims. Firstly, we want to use them to teach you a bit more about our wines, to discover their characteristics and tasting notes, as well as the team that makes up Bodegas Arzuaga, since different people from our team are in charge of leading these online tastings. However, taking into account the difficult lockdown situation we’re all experiencing, we also want these videos to act as a way to make these days at home a little more pleasant, as well as a way to keep yourself entertained with something as enthralling as wine.

In this post, we’d like to talk to you about the second of these video tastings, where our sales manager and brand ambassador Javier Bañales takes a closer look at the roots of one of our most iconic wines: Arzuaga Crianza.

Arzuaga Crianza is undoubtedly one of the wines that have the closest relationship with the winemaking concept we have here at Arzuaga. ‘It represents the three values we’re built on at Arzuaga: Tempranillo grapes from different plots, their pure balance within those classic, elegant, fresh, long-lived wines from Ribera del Duero, and it was the first wine we made at the winery that set the tone for our style in a way. That style of well-rounded, balanced wines, ready for drinking from the moment they hit the market. And always that pleasure of finding the feeling of their origin and the terroir of Ribera,’ explains Javier.

Balance is definitely one of the keys that define our Arzuaga Crianza, but what our sales manager points out before moving on to the different tasting stages as a ‘precious characteristic always from Arzuaga is its freshness; the freshness is key’.

Appearance, nose and palate

As some of you may already know, wine tasting as such includes three stages: appearance, nose and palate. These are three points clearly represented in this video tasting.

First of all, in terms of the appearance, where we appreciate the wine’s characteristics just by looking at it, Javier notes that Arzuaga Crianza ‘is ruby in colour, lively, fresh, young and brilliant. Very clean’. Moving on to the nose, our sales manager says that it reiterates ‘that point of balance that has all the values we find in the red wines, their full traceability, from the soil with mineral and chalky aromas, marked by the Tempranillo fruit, and the barrel ageing’.

Lastly, as for the palate stage of the tasting, Javier remarks that this wine has a ‘perfect harmony right from the attack through to the finish’.  In addition, he highlights the ‘very nice, very fresh fruity touches and finally the very well-rounded tannins’.

The best part is that to discover everything this wine has hidden within it, just visit our YouTube channel and, with a glass in your hand, you’ll learn loads with the Arzuaga Crianza video tasting about ‘a wine that never disappoints’.
