We toast with you… from home

This post is also available in: Español (Spanish)

At Arzuaga, we knew that ever since this situation caused by the coronavirus began, it was fundamental to be responsible and follow all the instructions from the health authorities. So, we not only closed our facilities to the public, but we also stuck to the rules by staying at home. That means our team has been locked down at home too, but we still wanted to send a message to all of you who follow us on social media, as well as take the opportunity to raise a glass with you and toast to better days.

While we weren’t able to include everyone, it’s still a good snapshot of all of us who make up the Arzuaga family, both at the winery and the hotel and Taller restaurant. And if we look for a common thread in the messages we’ve recorded for you, it would be the importance of seeing the positive sides of this difficult situation. Because, as Javier Bañales rightly says, ‘life suddenly changed for us overnight, and now we’re experiencing feelings of sadness, sorrow, anger or fear at not being able to go out and enjoy ourselves with our loved ones. But then there’s also the joy of enjoying your home and your family’. This lockdown ‘is leading us to give value to things we didn’t think had much of it: being close to a friend, family members… It’s also making us discover our strength,’ pointed out Ignacio Arzuaga. Javier Herrero shares this opinion, encouraging us to give ‘the little things’ the value they deserve.

‘You have to try to bring out the positives, enjoy your family, your partner, your children,’ affirmed Adolfo González. This reflection was supported by Jhon Mendoza, head chef at Taller Arzuaga, who also added the chance to dedicate some good time to our passions at home as a positive: ‘we can enjoy our loved ones and not miss out on our great passions; mine is cooking’. But there’s no doubt that one of the most positive aspects that this situation is giving us is ‘that huge wave of generosity, humanity, empathy and creativity,’ noted Patricia de Juan.

And, of course, a message of optimism. We raise our glasses with you with our sights set on ‘the hopes for the future,’ as Amaya Arzuaga said. A shared message that is reflected in the words of Chencho Alonso, who commented, ‘it’s time to be united, to move forward all together and go back to being what we were,’ as well as Giuseppe Gargano when he reassured us that ‘we’re going to come out of this all together’.

We don’t want to finish this post without sending you lots of encouragement and confidence that there’s not long left to go and that everything will be OK. So, we’d like to close with the message from Marta Cuesta: ‘soon we’ll all be able to do a toast together again’.
