Tim Atkin visits Bodegas Arzuaga

This post is also available in: Español (Spanish)

We get hundreds of visitors every month at Bodegas Arzuaga, but a few weeks ago, we welcomed a very special guest: Tim Atkin, Master of Wine. This British wine journalist, broadcaster and commentator is one of the greats of the wine world, and he didn’t want to miss the chance to visit our winery as part of his visit as a guest of the Ribera del Duero Supervisory Council. It was a real pleasure for us to host him and share a selection of the different wines from the Bodegas Arzuaga family.

Some of you who follow the blog might not have a good idea of who Tim Atkin is or what he represents in the wine world, so we’re going to use this post to tell you about his work in this field. Tim one of the most well-regarded Masters of Wine from the UK and has written about wines in prestigious publications such as Decanter and The Times. He has defined himself in several interviews as a ‘Hispanophile’ and considers himself a real lover of the wine made in our country. His opinion is very highly respected both in his country of origin as well as in other wine-making regions.

After 30 years of tasting and writing about wines all over the world, Tim has built himself a great reputation, which is why it was a source of pride to be there with him during his wine tasting at Bodegas Arzuaga. Together with Ignacio Arzuaga, our British guest discovered some of the wines we make and was able to enjoy all the spirit of our winery. During his visit, we shared impressions and got his views about what’s to come in the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin.

And we wanted to tell you about it because we love sharing these kinds of visits with you. We also want to take this opportunity to invite you to come and visit us, too, so that you can feel like a Master of Wine. You can attend one of the tastings we organise at the winery and try our wines after learning about the entire production process. It’s something unique that also takes on a special significance this autumn, when the 2021 harvest is now resting in the winery at Bodegas Arzuaga. So, all of us here would like to thank Tim Atkin for his visit and invite you to come and get to know us as well. We’re ready and waiting for you with lots of stories to tell!
