You may already know the exceptional wines of Bodegas Arzuaga, but today we’re excited to introduce you to our extra virgin olive oils, produced on our Los Olivos estate in Noez, Toledo (Spain). Spanning over 150 hectares and home to approximately 7,500 olive trees, this estate hosts the mill where these exquisite oils, proudly bearing the Arzuaga name, are crafted.
Our production focuses on three single-variety oils: Cornicabra, Picual, and Arbequina, each showcasing unique characteristics reflecting the richness and diversity of our region’s olive groves.
Cornicabra: This oil is part of the Montes de Toledo Designation of Origin and has received national acclaim, including a first prize in the 2010/2011 campaign for the Cornicabra Extra Virgin Olive Oils award. Made exclusively from Cornicabra olives, native to the region and Spain’s second-most cultivated variety, it stands out for its late ripening, which adds complexity and balance. It boasts a bright greenish-yellow colour and an intense aroma with notes of green herbs, unripe vine tomatoes, floral hints, and tropical nuances. On the palate, it’s unctuous, rich, with good acidity, remarkably flavourful, lingering and expressive.
Picual: The Picual variety is the most widely grown in Spain and globally thanks to their adaptability to various ecosystems. Its olives start with an intense green colour that darkens to black as they mature, featuring a distinctive pointed shape. Picual oil is known for its bold bitterness, spicy undertones, and subtle fruity aroma.
Arbequina: This oil is made exclusively from olives harvested using the traditional hand-shaking method to ensure only optimal ripened fruits are used. It showcases a vibrant green colour with a fruity aroma reminiscent of apple, tomato plant, and almond. On the palate, it reveals delicate hints of bitterness and spiciness, perfectly balanced. Combining traditional techniques with advanced technology, we maintain temperatures below 27°C during production to preserve its quality. The oil is stored in stainless steel tanks until being marketed.
