La Planta, a hidden gem in the heart of Ribera del Duero

If you still haven’t come to discover Arzuaga, it’s hard to imagine what the hidden gem of our winery holds. Who would have thought that in the heart of Ribera del Duero, in the province of Valladolid, there’s a unique place tucked away, where, alongside the vineyards, there’s also a holm oak that’s over a thousand years old and hundreds of deer, wild boar and mouflons? Although it may seem far-fetched, if you come to Quintanilla de Onésimo you’ll be able to enjoy this amazing natural spectacle that we’re lucky enough to experience every day on the La Planta estate.

We should also mention that this estate, located just a few kilometres from Bodegas Arzuaga, has great sentimental value for all of us who make up the Grupo Arzuaga team since it’s so closely linked to the origins of this amazing project that we’re all part of three decades later. This is the estate where Florentino Arzuaga planted the vines he used to make Arzuaga’s first red wines. La Planta is definitely a fundamental part of our history, which is why we wanted to honour it by giving its name to one of our most popular wines: the Arzuaga La Planta young red.

As for the estate’s many attractions, it gets its name from one of the most prominent: the ancient holm oak that stands impressively, wowing everyone who comes to see it. Its shape, branches and trunk have been formed over more than 1,000 years and feature in and provide the backdrop for many of the photos you send us via social media.

All of you who visit us to discover our estate share your amazement with us and that feeling you get when you find yourselves surrounded by wild boar or a herd of deer. Getting an up-close look at these animals is a real luxury you can experience on our estate, where you can all see the different parts of their life cycles. The bellowing of the deer, the shedding of antlers, the raising of the young…

You don’t need a screen to experience nature. We’re ready and waiting for you at Arzuaga so you can also discover our treasures and enjoy the hidden gem that is the La Planta estate in the heart of Ribera del Duero.
