There’s no question that this year, we’ve been experiencing an exceptional situation for our country. Something that we’d never experienced before and that, of course, we’d never have wanted to. As you know, at Grupo Arzuaga we wanted to get involved from day one with actions to support those who needed it most: the You’re Not Alone campaign to support Caritas, sending materials to old people’s homes, the wine tourism for health workers initiative…
Today, at Bodegas Arzuaga, we’d like to mention a group that is particularly feeling the effects of this crisis: the hospitality industry. The pandemic is having a huge impact on this sector, one that Arzuaga has had close ties to for decades. That is why Ignacio Arzuaga, the winery’s managing director, wanted to send a warm message of support at this difficult time to everyone who, in their own way, by serving and recommending our wines, is helping the Arzuaga brand to keep growing.
Because bars and restaurants form the most direct relationship with the consumers of our white, red and rosé wines. For this reason, Ignacio Arzuaga recognises that ‘they are the final link in our winery’s chain’ and shows solidarity with all of them, as ‘many of them haven’t been able to open, others have limited customer numbers and we want to support them’. Although this support has always been present, during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s become even more necessary.
Even though ‘our distributors have some assistance to try to resolve this situation,’ as Bodegas Arzuaga’s managing director explains, we don’t want to just stop there, but rather, ‘as far as possible, we’re going to try to help them because we believe that this situation, which we hope passes soon, is not ideal, so we’ll stand alongside them as much as we can’.
We’ve gone through all kinds of situations over the more than three decades that we’ve spent dedicated to wine, which is why we want to especially show our sensitivity to a sector to which we have close links, as it promotes our brand and our way of understanding wine. Therefore, we sincerely hope that this situation passes as soon as possible and that we can all be enjoying our wines safely in the hospitality industry very soon.
