Very special dates are coming. Days, in which we can finally enjoy joining together with our loved ones, meeting all up around a table. Dinners, in which we take care of every detail to the fullest, with the hope that everything goes well and accompanies to make the family or friends reunion even more special. Therefore, we pay attention to decoration, we elaborate the Christmas menu with care and, of course, we carefully choose the wines with which to toast for Christmas. Thinking about it, on our blog we want to propose a selection of Arzuaga wines with which to enjoy the two most special moments of this season: Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dinners.
We start at the point that ushers the beginning of Christmas, at a night with which we receive the celebrations with enthusiasm, accompanied by our beloved ones. On the table, the best recipes prepared to share and enjoy. And in the glass? Our proposals are that you pair the dishes of our Christmas Eve dinner with two red wines from Ribera del Duero that are always a true success: Arzuaga Crianza and Arzuaga Reserva.
Arzuaga Crianza, the flagship of our winery, is a full, soft wine with roasted and wooden hints. For its part, the red Arzuaga Reserva, which mostly comes from the oldest vines of our La Planta estate, offers sweet, fluffy and elegant tannins in mouth and a great unctuousness. As well as a magnificent freshness watering the entire mouth and finish. Although you can enjoy them with appetisers, starters or even cheeses, if we think about their pairing this wine fits perfectly with red meats, white meats and big game and feather dishes roasted or in sauce. Thus they will be perfect for your roasts. But you will also enjoy a perfect pairing if you bet on recipes with oily fishes as a central element. Several options for success and toasting for the Christmas beginning.
And if Christmas Eve dinner is special, the New Year’s Eve shouldn’t’ be less because we are facing the last dinner of the year. For this important occasion in Arzuaga we serve two of our most special wines: Rosae and Pago Florentino. Talking about Rosae is talking about a pale, Tempranillo single-variety rosé wine, which is captivating more and more palates thanks to its freshness and fruity hues. Because of its versatility, this wine can have a great harmony with many dishes typical of these events such as veg creams, rice, seafood, fish, ham and other cold cuts, white meat and roasted poultry… Even if you want to bet for an Asian touch in your starters, Rosae pairs perfectly with sushi or sashimi dishes.
Our second proposal for New Year’s Eve, Pago Florentino – as we have told you in our blog – is a gem of Arzuaga, one of the few Pago wines in Spain. A clean and bright red that has a multitude of aromas ranging from ripe red fruit to browned coffee, black fruits and roasted. In the mouth, you’ll discover a wine with great intensity and lasting over time. Apart from being perfect for rice or white meat, blunt appetisers or red meat, Pago Florentino will be the ideal wine to enjoy at that time when we wait for the twelve strokes to arrive after having dinner, as matches excellently with chocolate desserts.
Although we know that any Arzuaga wine will be perfect to pair with recipes of these nights, these that we have told you are our most special proposals. Let’s raise the glass together and toast for a Merry Christmas!
