Amaya Arzuaga 2017, sensuality in the form of wine

This post is also available in: Español (Spanish)

At Bodegas Arzuaga, we’re celebrating. And that’s because we can now try the new vintage of Amaya Arzuaga, a very modern and versatile wine. After 19 months in French oak barrels and a well-deserved rest in the bottle, the time has come for Amaya Arzuaga to get dressed up and come out to make wine lovers smile.

As usual with this wine, Amaya Arzuaga herself has dressed the label for this new vintage, which, like the fashion that characterises the designer, is a fresh dress – black, of course – and very structured. A pair of black heels complete an outfit that’s just the starting point for a special wine, made with all the care and know-how of Bodegas Arzuaga.

If we go back to where it all began, we have to travel to Bodegas Arzuaga’s nearly one-hundred-year-old vineyards in the heart of Ribera del Duero. This is where the vines grow, surrounded by holm oaks and pines, in chalky, stony and clay soils. The versatility of the terroir reflects the Arzuaga Navarro family’s passion for nature and the personality imbued by the soils on their property. The clusters of Tempranillo and Albillo Mayor grapes, which still have their stems, rest in a French oak vat, where the fermentation takes place. The aromatic complexity of this wine will arrive after the 19 months spent in French oak barrels.

The result is incredible, a contrast that’s as interesting as it is flavourful on the palate.  The nose is complex, featuring floral aromas with the true nuances of Ribera del Duero Tempranillo. This is a red to enjoy in good company, from the first glass right down to the last drop, thanks to its elegance and depth on the palate, with a great balance that invites you to keep drinking. Complex and voluminous, it leaves creamy and velvety sensations. It’s a perfect wine for celebrating life.

Also characterised by a hint of rebelliousness, this Amaya Arzuaga 2017 not only pairs perfectly with great classics, such as roast suckling lamb, but also with more daring dishes. It’s a great match for beef cheeks with liquorice and Parmentier potatoes or to accompany Asian cuisine – why not try it alongside a tasty soup such as a spicy Japanese ramen or flavourful Vietnamese pho? Or how about with some luscious Mexican tacos with cochinita pibil, the slow-roasted pork typical of the Yucatán Peninsula?

We here at Bodegas Arzuaga invite you to try it and enjoy it! You can find Amaya Arzuaga 2017 on our website now: https://tienda.arzuaganavarro.com/producto/amaya-arzuaga
