If you follow us on social media or on this blog, you will have surely read that every season there’s something magical and special in the vineyard. And we believe that’s more than just something we just say over and over. In autumn, the vineyard allows us to enjoy its range of brown, yellow and ochre colours; in winter, we see the sobriety of the bare vines with no leaves or fruit; in spring we experience an explosion of colour and are treated to the flowering vines; and, of course, in summer the vineyard also offers us a unique look. Today, we wanted to tell you about a specific moment in the summer when beauty and excitement go hand in hand.
In August, the vines go through a period of spectacular scenic richness. The plant has become filled with intensely coloured green leaves. The grapes are almost at their ideal point of ripeness. The red grape bunches have those characteristic violet touches, while the Chardonnay grapes blend into the vines with new shades of green and yellow.
But, in addition to this natural spectacle, which, of course, we recommend discovering for yourself in person, at Bodegas Arzuaga we get very excited in August, as we mentioned at the beginning of this post. Why, though? The vine’s growing cycle is about to reach its conclusion for another year: we’re getting close to the harvest. We have just a short time to go until we reach the moment when our months of hard work will culminate in picking the grapes to give way to a new vintage, 2022, which will follow the quality guidelines that have been defining us for years.
