At Arzuaga, spring is a season we enjoy like no other. The first buds are already peeking out on our vines and the terrace at our traditional restaurant fills with food lovers keen to pair our wines with our menu. It’s a special time! That’s why today, we wanted to tell you about how we love to pair in springtime.
And we’re going to start with Laderas del Norte, a wine that’s very special for us. We love savouring its fleshiness and its full-bodied mouthfeel, and its slightly indulgent and toasted notes pair perfectly with the ox carpaccio with foie grass, a delicate dish that brings together the flavour of the red meat with the delicateness of the duck liver. A special wine for a recipe as delicate as it is delicious.
But we know that there are lots of you who come to our traditional restaurant to enjoy one of the big stars of our regional cuisine: suckling lamb. This incredibly delicate meat wins over the palate of anyone when it’s roasted to perfection, getting the cooking time just right and always using produce of the highest quality. And to accompany this tasty treat, there’s nothing better than Arzuaga Crianza, our winery’s flagship wine. The Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes used to make it come from the oldest part of the La Planta estate and give it a unique personality that’s perfect for accompanying the roast suckling lamb. It’s also perfect for our delicious grilled lamb chops, another way to enjoy that very particular flavour. Although maybe you’d like to try suckling lamb in a different way that’s very typical of the area where Arzuaga is found: we mean the kebabs roasted over vine shoots, served with a salad made using local vegetables. Whichever you choose, the hint of ripe red fruits, the touches of spice and the balsamic notes of Arzuaga Crianza will be the perfect companion for this incredibly special meat.
We don’t want to close this post without recommending one final pairing that we also love. We’re talking about the wild boar ragu with poached potato and our Arzuaga Gran Reserva, a truly special wine. The hearty wild boar meat is perfect for accompanying the elegance of a wine that’s unique, complex and delicate. A way to surprise your palate and enjoy this spring more than ever.
These are just some of our suggestions, but we’re convinced that you’ll find the perfect pairing for your palate in our traditional restaurant. We look forward to seeing you there!
