It was nine years ago now that we harvested the first grapes to make our delicate Arzuaga Rosae, a 100% Tempranillo rosé wine that has become one of your favourites. We know it’s now a firm favourite because you let us know in person and on social media. So, because we always listen to our wine lovers, Ignacio Arzuaga decided to do a tasting on Instagram to reveal all the secrets of this special rosé wine. Read on to discover them all!
‘When we started making this wine, we were more inspired by the Mediterranean basin than by the traditional rosés from Ribera del Duero. We wanted something modern, that we’d like to drink as an aperitif and during lunch. We take care over every detail and chose a sugar cane cork that doesn’t impart any flavour and is very easy to open’. The first hints from Ignacio Arzuaga open the door to finding out more about our Arzuaga Rosae.
‘To make this 100% Tempranillo wine, we harvest from the young vines, like a week or 10 days before the grapes for our La Planta wine. We look for youth, freshness; we don’t want an exaggerated ripeness, we prefer less ripeness so the wine will have the overtones we want. That’s why, when we put the grapes in the stainless steel tanks, we chill it to around 10°C and we maintain this temperature during the fermentation. What we want is to preserve the primary aromas of the grapes. In addition, we aim for the liquid to have as little contact as possible with the grape skins to get that pale colour that characterises it,’ explains Ignacio, who then goes on to share all the tasting details of this rosé with us.
‘It has a very pale colour because we look for a subtle wine. On the nose, it’s not a classic rosé; it’s a delicate, elegant, subtle wine. We find white flowers, such as jasmine, and a very slight hint of tropical fruit. On the palate, the wine is broad, round, with a little body, but light, pleasant, fresh, with an acidity that makes you enjoy it. It’s a well-balanced wine. It’s not a wine made simply for enjoying by the sea; it also has a very important gastronomic touch, for pairing with lots of dishes. We can enjoy it as an aperitif on a boat, but also in a restaurant. We always include it at our Taller restaurant because it pairs perfectly with avant-garde cuisine, and we also recommend it with our ox carpaccio with foie and reduced Port sauce at our traditional restaurant’.
Delicate, subtle, perfect as an aperitif and with food. Our Rosae Arzuaga is ideal for this summer. You can get it from our online shop: https://tienda.arzuaganavarro.com
