This post is also available in: Español (Spanish)

Today we have some big news that we’d like to share with you: Ignacio Arzuaga has been named wine personality of the year in the Verema Awards, a recognition that’s as important in the wine world as it is special for us. The Verema Awards are given by the followers and regular participants of the great Verema online community made up of wine enthusiasts, with over 47,500 registered users. The site is also visited by at least 600,000 unique users per month. So, Ignacio Arzuaga was chosen by you, the wine lovers. And that’s really important to Arzuaga.

Our journey in Ribera del Duero began in the early 1990s when Florentino Arzuaga decided to start planting vines and to build the winery on the La Planta estate. And to make wine, of course. Ignacio Arzuaga saw his father start a project that he now leads as managing director of Bodegas Arzuaga. Following his example, Ignacio has continued to enhance the quality of the wines and wine tourism, with one of the most comprehensive offerings in all of Spain.

At Arzuaga, we talk about family essence, and that means talking about Ignacio Arzuaga and his link to the world of wine. Because despite the growth that Arzuaga has experienced in recent years, the winery maintains its unique family spirit, which has created wonderful wines and a reason for the local people to stay in Quintanilla de Onésimo and its surroundings.

That’s why we’re so proud of this Verema Award. It means that wine fans understand the efforts that the Arzuaga family make every day so that their project continues to grow, evolve and improve. Ignacio represents that development as managing director of the winery. The spirit that turned Arzuaga into one of the most important wineries in Ribera del Duero’s Golden Mile is still alive. And we love that you can see it and recognise it. That’s why today, we wanted to thank you for your support and your votes in these Verema Awards. The fact that Ignacio Arzuaga has been named wine personality makes us continue to work towards being even better, every day. Thanks, and cheers!
